How do I book my chosen Golf Tour?

Can I buy Old Course tee times only?
No, our Old Course tee times are sold within a fully managed luxury golf tour programme which includes accommodation in one of our partner hotels. The minimum stay in St Andrews is five nights. -
How do I book a caddy?
When you book your program, we automatically request caddies for your group at each course. Caddies are not guaranteed but we have an excellent record of securing them for all our golfers. Caddies are paid in cash at the end of each round, so please ensure you have enough British Pounds to pay them.

Can I book a golf cart?
Most of the courses in Scotland are walking courses, and carts are not available unless you are physically disabled. Most of the courses only have one cart available for disabled golfers, so an early request is essential. -
Can I hire golf clubs?
Yes, it’s no problem to hire clubs. Please let us know if you want Gents or Ladies, right or left handed. -
What happens if you are a single golfer?
Many golf courses, including St Andrews Links do not accept advanced bookings for single golfers, however single golfers can play as part of our escorted tours, please click here to view these tours. -
What are the handicap requirements?
Make sure you bring your handicap certificate to the first tee and present it to the Starter. (Generally, a GHIN card or similar is what is expected). It's your passport to the oldest course in the world. The maximum handicap is 36 for men and ladies on the Old Course. Handicap requirements vary at other courses, but our team will keep you informed when you book. -
When is the Old Course closed?
It’s closed every Sunday (apart from when there are tournaments taking place) and we can’t pre-book on Saturdays. It closes in early May, the middle two weeks in September and during the Dunhill Links Trophy which is alternately last week of September or first week of October. -
What happens if there is bad weather and I cant play my round of golf?
Each golf course sets its own inclement weather policy and therefore all decisions regarding partial refunds or green fee vouchers are solely at the discretion of the supplier.

What accreditations do you have?
We have three accreditations.
ABTOT (membership number: 5525) is an association recognized and respected by the UK Travel Industry. As an approved body, appointed by the UK Government Department for Business and Travel, ABTOT operates a regulated financial protection bonding scheme for Travel Organizers who need to comply with the UK Travel Regulations.
IAGTO, the global golf tourism association, represents the interests of its members and the global golf tourism industry, promoting the implementation of best practices worldwide.
We also partner with the R&A, to become an authorized seller of Official Ticket Packages for The 152nd Open at Royal Troon in 2024.

Do you employ official photographers or videographers?
We occasionally employ the services of a professional photographer/videographer to capture images for use by The Experience Golf in marketing activities and program fulfilment. Please speak to a member of our team before your arrival date if you wish to be exempt from any of this activity. -
How far ahead should I book?
You should begin to plan your trip 12-18 months in advance to be sure of getting that Old Course time. We will be able to confirm your exact Old Course time by the end of September the year before you travel. Other courses open their books at different times so we may not be able to confirm all tee times at time of booking. -
What’s the ideal size group?
Ideally, you’ll book in four-ball spots, but we provide specific dates for singles and twosomes throughout the season. -
What information do I need to give you in order to confirm my trip?
We need to know what dates you can travel, the room type you want and the hotel of your choice, the courses you want to play and we’ll give you a quotation based on that information. If it’s acceptable, you email your acceptance and you will receive an email of our Terms & Conditions. Once you have accepted those, you will receive your invoice and you can then pay online, or by wire transfer. -
Do your trips include personal travel insurance?
No, personal travel insurance is not included in our trips. We recommend that all our bookers have sufficient personal travel insurance before booking and that it covers the period you will be away.

What time can I check-in to the hotel?
Check-in times can vary for each hotel; however, the standard check-in time is from 15:00 onwards. Early check-in and late check-out may be available, but this can be subject to a charge. -
Are your prices based on two people sharing?
All prices advertised on the website are based on two people sharing unless otherwise stated. Groups of an odd number or those wishing to stay in their own room may incur a single supplement charge. -
Can non-golfers book as part of my golf trip?
Yes, you can book a trip with non-golfers. For online bookings please select the desired number of non-golfers or alternatively make a note on the inquiry form when contacting us via email. -
What is the Edinburgh tourist tax?
Bookings made on or after 1 October 2025 will be subject to a 5% visitor levy in Edinburgh, if the stay is after 24th of July 2026. This tax is included within our tour prices, and therefore is not an additional charge for our guests thereafter. -
What is included in a non-golfer package?
We offer a number of different packages for non-golfers specific to the tour they are joining. We are also able to create bespoke itineraries, for more information please contact [email protected]. -
How can I check the facilities that my hotel offers?

Are flights included in my package?
No, unfortunately we are unable to book or include flights within your chosen experience. -
Can you arrange airport transfers?
Yes - please inform us of your flight details and we will organise the transport according to group size and let you know the cost. Please note that some of our set experiences will include airport transfers, so please check the package inclusions listed on the website. -
Can I ship my Clubs?
For your upcoming trip with The Experience St Andrews avoid the hassle and uncertainty of taking your golf clubs and other luggage through the airport and instead opt for our preferred shipping partner Luggage Forward.

Are there any forms I need to complete before arriving into the country?
Yes; from April 2025, all visitors to the UK from the EU, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan will need to have a valid ETA form. You can find out more on application, cost and other useful information on the UK Government website. -
Who will be our onsite contact?
When you arrive, one of our ground team will meet you at your hotel. They will arrange your pickup time, explain how the programme will run over the duration of the trip, and will accompany you to golf each day.
Booking Amendments

Can I make changes after I have booked?
Yes, you may request amendments to your booked programme, however these need to be carried out by the lead booker. -
Will I be charged for making a change to my booking?
You can make up to two free amendments per booking, any amendments after that may incur an administration charge of £40.00GBP per amendment. This will be immediately payable by credit or debit card for each amendment. All amendments to a booking are subject to availability. -
What happens if someone drops out?
All non-refundable deposits will be held in accordance with our cancellation terms. The group may also incur increased costs as a result of numbers reducing. For more information, please contact us on [email protected] or give us a call on +44 (0)1334 441350. -
When can I make changes to my booking?
Amendments can be made up to the day you travel. All amendments are subject to availability and may incur increased costs to your trip. -
What are your cancellation terms?
Should you cancel your trip more than 16 weeks out your deposit is retained. If you cancel 16 weeks to 60 days out 80% of the booked programme cost is retained. If you cancel 60 – 30 days 90% of the booked programme cost is retained and if you cancel less than 30 days out 100% of the booked programme cost is retained. -

How much is my deposit?
A non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit of 40% must be paid to The Experience Golf within 14 days from the date of the invoice sent by The Experience Golf, otherwise the booking may be cancelled and the space resold at the sole discretion of The Experience Golf. -
How can I pay?
You can pay using a credit or debit card via a secure payment link or alternatively you can arrange for a bank transfer. -
When do I need to pay my final balance?
Settlement of the balance of all bookings will be due 16 weeks prior to the arrival date (as stated in the order confirmation sent by The Experience Golf). -
Can a member of the group pay separately?
Yes, members of your group can make their own payments, they simply need to quote the lead bookers name and confirmation number. -
What do I do if I'm having problems making online payments?
