The wait is over. The 2025 TOUR Championship has arrived and will be taking place at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, bringing together golf’s top 30 players for the final showdown of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. With a staggering $40 million purse and a record $10 million first-place prize, this is the most lucrative - and one of the most dramatic - weeks in golf.

What Is the TOUR Championship?

The TOUR Championship is the grand finale of the PGA TOUR season. It’s where the year-long battle for FedEx Cup points comes to an end, and one player walks away with the trophy, the title, and the biggest payday in golf.

For years, the TOUR Championship used a staggered start system where players began with different scores based on their FedEx Cup rank. That format is gone. In 2025, every golfer starts at even par, turning this into a pure 72-hole test. No advantages - just golf.

Only the top 30 FedEx Cup players qualify, so the field is stacked. Big names include:

• Scottie Scheffler - World No. 1 and defending TOUR Champion
• Rory McIlroy - Three-time FedEx Cup winner chasing history
• Tommy Fleetwood - Fan favourite with momentum
• Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland - All ready to make a run

Why It’s Special

The TOUR Championship is unlike any other event on the PGA TOUR. It’s truly all or nothing, with the FedEx Cup champion crowned at East Lake. Adding to the drama is the biggest purse in golf - an eye-popping $40 million, including $10 million for the winner.

For the first time since 2018, the prize money also counts toward official career earnings, giving players even more incentive. And with everyone starting at even par, the playing field is level, making this year’s finale one of the most unpredictable and exciting in history.

Past Champions

• 2024: Scottie Scheffler
• 2023: Viktor Hovland
• 2022: Rory McIlroy

Who’s the Favourite in 2025?

All eyes are on Scottie Scheffler, who leads the FedEx Cup standings by a wide margin and just won the BMW Championship. He’s the odds-on favourite, but with the new format, don’t count out McIlroy, Fleetwood, or even an underdog like Sungjae Im or Harry Hall.
