The Experience Golf Team

As golf fans, we like to have at hand the details of the most important events of the year. Where and when are key events? Here is your crib sheet.

Players Championship (March 14-17): TPC Sawgrass

Celebrating its 50th staging, the Players Championship stands tall as the PGA Tour's crown jewel. Many refer to this as the unofficial fifth major and it’s earned this hype. With one of the world’s most famous and treacherous par threes, the 17th, this is always packed with drama.

Defending Champion: Scottie Scheffler

The Masters (April 11-14): Augusta National

Tradition and grandeur. The Masters is the first major championship of the year and the symbolic start of the golfing season for many. From the Par Three Contest, to views of drives down Magnolia Lane, this event is steeped in tradition and excitement. We also have Jon Rahm returning as defending champion in his new guise as a LIV golfer.

Defending Champion: Jon Rahm

PGA Championship (May 16-19): Valhalla

The battleground for Rory McIlroy's triumph a decade ago, welcomes back this major tournament. As we commemorate Lee Trevino's memorable victory in 1984, expect fierce competition under the Kentucky sky. The name evokes thoughts of drama and fierce battles, I’m sure we can expect both.

Defending Champion: Brooks Koepka

U.S. Open (June 13-16): Pinehurst No. 2

The host course of more single championships than any other course in the US, Donald Ross’ masterpiece is going to make a phenomenal arena for this year's US Open. The late, great Payne Stewart won here 25 years ago and will certainly be celebrated during this great week.

Defending Champion: Wyndham Clark

The Open Championship (July 18-21): Royal Troon

The only men’s major that celebrates the most traditional form of the game, links golf. This is also the heartland of the Open Championship in Ayrshire near where it all began in Prestwick. Royal Troon is a wonderful links course and everyone will be hoping for a repeat of the duel between Stenson and Mickelson for the 2016 Open.
You should know, at The Experience St Andrews, we offer multiple packages to help you be there at Royal Troon to witness the action. With some golf of your own around tournament days, you’re in for the time of your life! Check out our packages for the 152nd Open here.

Defending Champion: Brian Harman

Olympics - Men’s & Women’s Competition (Aug. 1-4 / Aug. 7-10): Le Golf National

The Olympic stage beckons in Paris, uniting top golfing talents in a quest for gold. Golf is, of course, a new addition to the Games, but it is no less exciting. Le Golf National, of Ryder Cup fame, is the incredible host course for what will no doubt be a brilliant event.

Defending Gold Medallists: Xander Schauffele and Nelly Korda

AIG Women's Open (Aug. 22-25): The Old Course, St Andrews

The Old Course at St. Andrews hosts the prestigious AIG Women's Open, a battleground of skill and creativity. It is going to be incredible to watch the world’s best pick their way around the most famous golf course in the world. It’s been ten years since the girls took on the Old Lady in the Women’s Open, it’s going to be incredible!
This event means, of course, that access to the Old Course will be slightly limited this year. We can help you get out there before or after the Women’s Open. Contact us to arrange your experience on the hallowed golfing turf.

Defending Champion: Lilia Vu

Solheim Cup (Sept. 13-15): Robert Trent Jones Golf Club

The Solheim Cup returns, offering a riveting showdown between the best female golfers from Europe and the United States. Captains Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis will lead their teams in what's anticipated to be a closely contested battle, potentially recreating the dramatic scenes witnessed in 2023. This event has had a renaissance recently so let’s hope the drama continues!

Defending Champion: Team Europe

Presidents Cup (Sept. 26-29): Royal Montreal Golf Club

The year culminates with the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal, where the International team, under the helm of Mike Weir, aims to challenge the dominance of their counterparts. The event promises a fantastic venue and the possibility of epic upset, the International Team haven’t won since 1998!
Defending Champion: Team USA

In conclusion, 2024 stands as a riveting year for golf fans, offering huge excitement, and compelling storylines. If you’re interested in playing some of the world’s most iconic courses in the world – take a look here.
